Tourism is the motor of the island economy, which also earns revenues from port activity – a key element of the sales and services sector– agriculture, cattle, fishing and, to a lesser degree, industry, which for the most part is limited to small centres that transform commodities.

More than 5 million tourists come to Tenerife every year, explaining why the Hotel and Services sectors account for more than 60% of the GDP. The currency is the euro.
