Yaiza is well connected to the airport and to Arrecife, the capital of the island, as well as to the rest of the island. Yaiza is connected to its tourist village, Playa Blanca, via a fast motorway and the old general road.

The municipality is connected with the nearby port of Corralejo in Fuerteventura by ferries based in the port of Playa Blanca. Two companies, Fred Olsen and Armas offer ferry service between both ports. The port serves as a fisherman's refuge and occasional landing point for sea cruises. Currently, Yaiza has the island’s only sports harbours Puerto Calero and Marina Rubicón. One of the desalinators owned by the company Insular de Aguas is located in the municipality, helping to cover the current demand for fresh water. In the near future the strategic water reserves and the production capacity will be increased.

Currently, most tourists come from Germany, followed by Great Britain, although the number of tourists from Italy, the United States, Eastern Europe and Russia are on the rise. Winter is the high season, especially November and March. The large number of tourists in the summer are mostly local or from other islands.
