To take a guided tour of La Laguna, go to the Plaza del Adelantado (Villa de Abajo) where the local council organises free tours of the city. Starting at the Plaza del Adelantado or the Plaza de Abajo, which is the most traditional area of our city, the tour views the old Cabildo of Tenerife (today the Ayuntamiento de La Laguna) and the La Laguna market, located on one of the corners of the plaza. Next, the tour goes up Calle de La Carrera, which has been paved with cobblestones just as it was in the 16th Century, to Villa de Arriba. All along this path the tour passes large houses built in the unusual Spanish Colonial style. When the tour arrives at Villa de Arriba it stops to view the church of La Concepción. From there it goes down Calle de San Agustín to return to the Plaza del Adelantado.

Semana Santa (Easter week) is among the most popular holidays in this city. During this celebration Los Pasos and the Corpus Christi (religious icons) are taken through the streets in processions and the streets of the historic quarter are decorated with flowers and covered with beautiful illustrated carpets that the Laguneros make out of sands of different colours. Other important fiestas are the ones held in honour of the Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna (September 14) and the Romería dedicated to San Benito Abad. Another fiesta considered to be of general interest is Los Corazones de Tejina.

La Laguna is culture, history, art, traditions and endless emotions that can only be discovered by visiting this part of Tenerife.
